Chili, Cincinnati (D/P)

Serves: 8-10

1 qt. water
2 lbs. crumbled imitation burgers
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cumin
2 large chopped onions
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 crushed garlic bulb
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. chili pepper
1 tbsp. salt
1-1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1 6-oz. can tomato paste
1-1/2 tbsp. cider vinegar
3 large bay leaves

Crumble the imitation burgers into the water.

Add the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil.

Simmer 3 hours. Remove garlic and bay leaves.

Poster's Notes:
In Cincinnati, the natives like to make what they call "two-way, "three-way," etc. chili, meaning they sometimes add something else to the basic recipe.

For example, serving the chili over spaghetti noodles would be two-way chili; serving it over the spaghetti noodles plus grated cheese would be three-way chili; serving it over the spaghetti noodles plus grated cheese and chopped onions would be four-way chili...(I keep hearing the refrain of "Had Gadya" in the back of my mind!)
