Ice Cream, Tin Can (D, TNT)
Source: Unknown
Serves: 4

Equipment:
3 pound coffee can
1 pound coffee can
Rock salt
Ice
Wet paper towels

Ingredients:
2 cups milk or cream and milk mixture (soy milk works, the more fat the richer the ice cream)
Fruit or crushed mint candies to taste cut in pieces (strawberries are nice)
Sugar to taste
Nuts etc., optional

Fill the 1-pound can with ingredients. Cover. Place in the 3-pound can. Fill with ice and salt, alternately. Cover. "Roll" back and forth for 10 minutes on the ground. Two kids passing this back and forth works well, or one child pushing it down the sidewalk.

Open carefully, wipe salt from rim. Stir and then redo if needed.

Poster's Notes:
This is great for pre-schoolers on up through grade school.

Kids love to crush the mints with a rolling pin; use both the red and white ones and the green and white ones.

I have made this with a class of 3rd graders using three recipes for the class. Everyone had something to do. Salt for the water softener works too.
