Mystery Cookies (D, TNT)
Source: "Lemon Meringue Pie Murder Mystery," by Joanne Fluke
Yield: 10 dozen

1/2 cup butter, melted
3-1/2 cups white sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 regular sized-can condensed tomato soup
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg (or freshly ground, 1 tsp)
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
2 cups raisins
2 cups chopped walnuts
4-1/2 cups flour

Microwave butter in large bowl. Add the sugar, let cook a bit and mix in the beaten eggs.

Add a can of tomato soup and mix well. Stir in the cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Then add the raisins and walnuts. Stir.

Measure the flour and add it in one cup increments mixing after each addition.

Let the dough sit for 10 minutes or so. Drop the dough by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets, 12 to a sheet. Chill the dough first it is too sticky.

Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown on top. Let sit on cookie sheet for a minute or two (no longer or they will stick and need to be reheated) Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Poster's Notes:
I didn't particularly like the flavor of these, but others loved them. I'll make them again.
