Mandelbread V (P, TNT)
Source: My mah jongg friend's mother, Marcia
Yield: 3 to 4 dozen

2 cups flour
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup oil
1 tbsp. lemon juice (fresh is better)

1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup white raisins
Cinnamon and sugar for topping

Mix first group of ingredients (flour to lemon juice) together. Add the walnuts and raisins and mix again.

Shape 3 loaves on a greased baking sheet or a sheet lined with baking paper. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top of loaves.

Bake at 200°C (375°F) for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 175°C (325°F) and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes. Should be light brown in color.

Cool slightly and slice. No need to toast in oven.

FYI: This dough is not very sticky, but if you have trouble shaping the loaves, put a little oil on your hands and that will keep the dough from sticking to them.

Poster's Notes:
This recipe was given to my Mah Jongg friend's mother when visiting Israel from Florida. I make it nearly every Friday for Shabbat. Easy and delicious.
