Babka, Grandma Bertha's (D, TNT)

Yield: 1 tube pan cake

Cake:
1 cup sour cream
3 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
4-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter (melted)
2 cakes yeast
1/2 cup softened butter

Nut Mix:
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 tbsp. cinnamon
1 cup sugar

Mix sour cream, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, yeast cakes until yeast is dissolved. Add eggs unbeaten, soft butter and half of the flour. Mix well, then add rest of flour.

Knead on floured board for 10 to 15 minutes. Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Then punch down. Turn over and let rise for 45 minutes.

After second rising, form in a walnut-sized balls. Dip in melted butter, then in nut mixture. Place balls close together in greased 10" tube pan. You should have about two to 2-1/2 layers in pan. Then bake at 375°F for 40 to 50 minutes. Turn out of pan about 1/2 hour after removing from oven.
