Steak, Venezuelan w/Avocado Sauce (M, TNT)

Serves: 2

1 large steak for grilling OR about 8 smaller ones (most tender possible)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 cup bitter orange juice
OR 1/4 cup orange juice mixed with juice of 1 lemon-sized lime
1/2 teaspoon salt

Venezuelan Guacamole:
1 large ripe avocado, half mashed and half diced
1 finely chopped tomato
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon salad oil or light olive oil
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 small grated onion OR 2 minced scallions
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional)
1 can palm hearts, drained, rinsed and diced (optional)

Meat:
Sprinkle the meat on both sides with the above ingredients except the salt. Marinate for at least 3 hours before placing on the bbq charcoal grill. When cooked, sprinkle with salt. Serve with Venezuelan Guacamole.

Guacamole:
Mix all the ingredients together and refrigerate. Serve on top of the steaks.

A delicious, different taste. Caracas is known as the gourmet secret of the Western Hemisphere. I lived in Caracas many years and my 2 children were born there. This is a very Caraquena recipe, well passed along and used in the Hebraica community of Venezuela.
